Grandma Pat’s Kids is a child development center for children of all ages. The program is based on an educational, fun curriculum including science and technology. We offer different weekly learn-by-doing classes to children of all ages. The subject matter provides opportunities to participate in entertaining, exciting programs that teach skills with lifelong benefits. Technical knowledge is essential for today’s young people so that is why the science, engineering and technology program was chosen as the theme for the afterschool activities. We prepare youth for the challenges of the 21st century by engaging them in a process of discovery and exploration.

Grandma Pat’s Kids child development program helps toddlers and preschoolers learn about language by watching and listening; we help them become creative thinkers and listeners. As early childhood educators we encourage children to develop and practice their social skills through play and other activities. All staff must pass a background check and will be required to take early childhood training and continuing education courses each year.

Grandma Pat’s Kids Day Care and Afterschool Program offers afterschool youth a unique service in that there is no other program like it in Los Lunas or Valencia County New Mexico. Though there are several Boys and Girls Club after school programs; they are not a comprehensive growth program for children as this one is. The afterschool program theme is not just any afterschool program; it has a research-based, ready-to-use curricula that helps young people reach academic success. Each curriculum provides youth with valuable skills which includes leadership and civic responsibility.

Mission

The mission of Grandma Pat’s Kids is to provide a quality, safe environment that promotes the desire, interest and educational skills of children while having fun at the same time. Parents also play a vital role in the development of Grandma Pat’s Kids activities and goals. The possibilities for Grandma Pat’s kids are endless even for the youngest child - a familiarity of metric along with standard measurements from pre-school on; a familiarity of the alphabet, phonics and numbers for toddlers; teaching sign language, music and Spanish to all ages; tutoring for the student who needs it; and gymnastics and other physical activities provided along with the learning. As stated above, the need for a great education is essential for our 21st century young people and this program helps nourish those skills while having fun on a daily basis.
